Police say that a truck driver is facing multiple charges after driving dozens of miles on Ontario roadways with a major tire malfunction.
On February 14, 2026, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – North West Region reported an encounter with a semi truck suffering a major tire issue in the Marathon area.
“Traveling more than 100 km [62 miles] without a tire, the driver of this commercial motor vehicle is now facing multiple charges for unsafe operation of a vehicle,” OPP said.
Police used the incident as a reminder to drivers to check their vehicles prior to setting out on a trip:
“Marathon OPP are reminding all motorists to take a few extra minutes to inspect their vehicle before hitting the road. A quick safety check can prevent serious incidents and helps ensure you and everyone else sharing the road, arrive safely at your destination.“
