A cattle hauler was recently arrested in Laramie County, Wyoming, after a traffic stop uncovered license and immigration violations, according to local police.
On March 26 2026, a Laramie County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy performed a traffic stop on a semi truck hauling a livestock trailer after the driver failed to stop at the US-85 Port of Entry in Laramie County.
During the traffic stop, the deputy learned that the truck driver was operating on a suspended license. The truck driver was taken into custody on an immigration detainer, LCSO said.
After the driver was arrested, the 33 Jersey milk cows inside the trailer were stranded.
“With a trailer full of cows and no driver, deputies were left asking: “Now what?” The cows made it clear they weren’t about to take the steeeeering wheel—after all, they’re cows, not steers. Thankfully, the team at Paul Heath Trucking, LLC stepped up in a big way—going above and beyond to ensure the cows were safely transported to their destination. A big thank you to the professional drivers who helped turn a tricky situation into a smooth ride!” LCSO said.
Last October, LCSO Sheriff Kozak and 25 deputies were sworn in by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) and authorized to enforce immigration law under Title 8, Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
LCSO recently took part in a three-day operation targeting commercial vehicles that bypass Ports of Entry dubbed “Truck Around And Find Out,” which was held in partnership with ICE.
