Dash cam shows ‘distracted truck driver’ striking patrol cruiser, New Jersey cops say

The South Brunswick Police Department (SBPD) shared dash cam video of semi truck striking a parked police vehicle.

The crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. on March 14, 2026, on Route 1 in South Brunswick, New Jersey.

“A distracted truck driver struck a police car on a traffic assignment on the side of the highway early this morning. The truck driver struck over 50 cones, an arrow sign board, and the patrol car with lights on the officer was sitting in,” SBPD said.

The officer escaped the crash without injury.

SBPD did not release information on whether charges were filed against the truck driver involved in the collision.
