Driver wearing ICE GPS monitor fatally struck pedestrian on I-20

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a truck driver wearing an ICE GPS monitor on Interstate 20 in Mississippi on Thursday. 

The accident happened on August 20th in Hinds County, Mississippi. 

Sube Singh was driving a 2016 Freightliner along I-20 when he struck 36-year-old Dedric Garrett, who had exited his vehicle and was standing on the Interstate. Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene.  Singh was not hurt, reported WLBT3. 

According to The Daily Wire, Singh’s first encounter with ICE agents occurred in November of 2019. He was taken into ICE custody and was later released on bond, and placed into the ‘alternatives to detention’ program. This program allowed Singh to avoid jail but be tracked by ICE through a GPS monitor, which could include an ankle or wrist worn device. 

The DHS “is aggressively working with its interagency partners to get illegal alien commercial drivers off the road,” according to a statement obtained by The Daily Wire. “It is incredibly dangerous for illegal aliens, who often don’t know our traffic laws or even English, to be operating vehicles on America’s roads.”

“Dedric Garrett lost his life at the hands of an illegal alien who was driving an 18 wheeler,” Congressman Troy Nehls wrote on X, along with a repost of an article. “If you are in our country illegally or can’t speak and understand English, you have no business operating an 80,000-pound semi-truck. It’s common sense.”

The DHS has confirmed that Singh is a citizen of India and is residing in the United States Illegally, reported American Bazaar.
