Two men killed in a crash with an illegally parked semi truck on Interstate 80 in Wyoming last weekend were father and son traveling together.
The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 8th on eastbound I-80 near Green River, Wyoming.
According to Cowboy State Daily, 36-year-old Aleksey Fedun was driving a Volvo semi truck when the rig drifted from the far left lane, into the right lane, and then into a semi truck parked on the side of the highway.
The Volvo exploded when it struck the stopped rig, killing Fedun and his 74-year-old father, Volodymyr Fedun. The two were from Citrus Heights, California.

Police say that “driver inattention and possible fatigue are being looked at as contributing factors,” in the wreck. The stopped semi truck involved in the accident was parked illegally at the time of the crash. The driver of the parked rig has been identified as 37-year-old Rafique McNeill. McNeill has been issued a summons to appear for a March 25th arraignment, but has not been cited for the incident.
“Volodymyr and Alex were driving together when their truck was involved in a terrible truck accident that took their lives far too soon,” the family wrote in a post on their GoFundMe page. “A father and son tragically passed away in the same moment, with no chance of survival.”
