The family of a motorist killed by an illegal immigrant truck driver says that no lawyer will help them to sue the state governments of Washington and California for their part in the incident.
Motorist Robert Pearson was killed in an accident in Washington when truck driver Kamalpreet Singh crashed into the back of his car in December 2025. Singh lived in California at the time of the crash. He was eventually released from a Washington jail on $100,000 bond, despite an ICE detainer placed on him due to his illegal immigration status.
Now, Jen Jensen, Pearson’s sister, is looking to sue both California and Washington for their part in the deadly incident involving the illegal driver.
“Where they’re running into problems is suing Washington, suing California, the company that issued the CDL,”Jensen said, stating that no lawyer will help them pursue the lawsuit.
“That’s where they’re running into problems of finding a lawyer that’s willing to take case and wanting to put up a fight, because there are so many layers to this. It’s not, unfortunately, this clean case that … it seems like.”
“They’ve reached out to multiple law firms, multiple lawyers. They have friends of lawyers that have been trying to reach out to find someone willing to take the case,” she explained, reported Fox News. “And they keep running into dead ends. ‘Sorry, we don’t cover that in our firm.’ And there are no recommendations given.”
“[We] want everyone and everything that led up to this happening — they want there to be some sort of accountability, but no one’s coming forward or willing to take the case.”
