Family-owned Dart Transit acquired by California private investment firm

Minnesota-headquartered trucking company Dart Transit has been purchased by a private investment firm based in San Francisco, California.

On January 8, 2026, the companies announced that Avkha Equity Holdings acquired Dart Transit, Dart Express, and their subsidiaries, effective January 1, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dart says that day-to-day operations and the company name will remain unchanged, with all facilities continuing to operate and no layoffs expected among drivers, leadership, and other staff.

“After more than 90 years of ownership, the Oren family is transitioning its legacy of leadership at Dart as they pursue family interests. Don Oren has retired, and David Oren will remain as President at Dart Express, ensuring continuity and operational stability. Mike DelBovo will remain as President of Dart Transit Group and Tom Witt is joining the organization as CEO,” Dart said in a news release.

Dart says it remains committed to serving established customers and “discussing opportunities to expand service offerings where appropriate, including additional lanes, intermodal solutions, dedicated fleet operations, and logistics management.”

Dart was founded in 1934 by Earl Oren with a single truck and trailer and has grown to become a “nationally recognized transportation and logistics provider offering truckload, dedicated, and logistics solutions across North America.”
