Florida sheriff shares video of driver arrested for hitting 110 MPH while ‘trying to pass semi trucks’

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DSCSO) shared video of a recent “Super Speeder” incident involving a motorist attempting to pass semi trucks.

The video was captured on July 2, 2026, on SE Highway 70 in DeSoto County, Florida. DSCSO Deputy Rak spotted a motorist traveling at speeds of 100 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h. zone.

After a traffic stop was initiated, the driver stated that she “was trying to pass semi trucks.”

Because she exceeded the posted speed limit by 50 m.p.h., the driver was arrested under Florida’s Super Speeder Law.

The video also shows a second Super Speeder arrested that occurred just two days later during which another driver was clocked at 119 m.p.h. on Highway 70.
