FMCSA adds a new ELD to the growing list of revoked devices

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has added another electronic logging device (ELD) to the list of revoked devices.

On April 2 2026, FMCSA removed the following ELD from the agency’s list of approved devices for failure to meet minimum federal requirements:

“Devices that don’t meet federal standards will be removed from FMCSA’s registered list. Since January 2025, we’ve already taken off more than 56 devices, and we’ll keep going to protect the integrity of the ELD program and to keep America’s roads safe,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs.

FMCSA has given carriers a sixty day deadline to replace the revoked HERO ELD with an approved device.

Carriers using the HERO ELD should take the following steps:

1. Discontinue using the revoked ELD and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.

2. Replace the revoked ELD with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices list before June 02, 2026.

Starting on June 02, 2026, FMCSA says that law enforcement encountering a truck driver using the revoked ELD should issue a citation for “No record of duty status” and place the driver out-of-service.

In December 2025, FMCSA promised to address the issue of ELD vetting so that devices that do not meet federal standards are blocked before reaching the agency’s list of approved devices in an effort to spare truckers from the hassle and cost of replacing revoked ELDs.
