The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) removed several devices from the agency’s list of approved electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Effective February 12, 2026, the following nine ELDs were revoked by FMCSA for failure to meet minimum federal requirements:
Carriers using one of these devices will have 60 days to replace the revoked device with a compliant ELD. FMCSA directs trucking companies using the revoked devices to take the following steps:
Prior to the April 14 deadline, law enforcement officers are encouraged not to cite drivers using the revoked ELDs for “No record of duty status”or “Failing to use a registered ELD.” Officers should ask to see a paper log book, logging software, or the ELD display to check hours-of-service data.
After April 14, drivers using a revoked ELD should be cited for “No record of duty status” and placed out-of-service, officials say.
“If an ELD isn’t meeting federal requirements, it’s taken out of service — plain and simple. We’ll keep making clear, fair decisions that put safety first and support everyone who shares America’s roadways,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs.
In December, FMCSA promised efforts to improve ELD vetting process “to ensure non-compliant devices are blocked before they ever reach FMCSA’s Registered ELD list.”
