FMCSA revokes two more ELDs, bringing number of removed devices to 67 since January 2025

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) added two more electronic logging devices (ELDs) to the agency’s growing list of revoked devices.

On May 7, 2026, FMCSA added Safe ELD (IOS and Android) and MYLOGS ELD to the “Revoked Devices” list for failure to meet minimum federal standards.

“Since January 2025, FMCSA has taken decisive action – removing 67 noncompliant devices that failed to meet federal standards – to protect the integrity of the ELD program, and we will continue to identify and remove any device that falls short,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs.

Carriers using these ELDs must act within 60 days to replace the revoked devices. FMCSA advises any carrier using one of the revoked ELDs to take the following actions:

  1. Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.
  2. Replace the revoked ELDs with a compliant ELD from the Registered Devices list before July 07, 2026.

Prior to the July 7, 2026 deadline, safety personnel are advised not to cite truck drivers using one of the revoked devices. Law enforcement should review a driver’s paper logs, logging software, or the ELD display to check a driver’s hours-of-service records.

After July 7, FMCSA advises that a truck driver using a revoked ELD should be cited for  “No record of duty status” and placed out-of-service.

In December 2025, FMCSA vowed to revamp the ELD vetting process “to ensure non-compliant devices are blocked before they ever reach FMCSA’s Registered ELD list.”
