Georgia cops issue 15 citations after dump truck inspection, say they’ve ‘never seen a commercial vehicle this bad’

Multiple Georgia law enforcement agencies assisted with inspecting a loaded dump truck operating in Duluth that they say was “nothing short of alarming.”

On March 31, 2026, the Duluth Police Department (DPD) described a recent encounter with a 64,000-pound dump truck by Officer Carrero from the DPD traffic unit.

Police said that “the rear inner rims had come apart, and one brake pad had completely separated and exploded off the rim.”

Due to “serious safety concerns,” Officer Carrero called in the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) – Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) to assist with the inspection.

Following the inspection, DPD issued one citation for operating an unsafe vehicle.

The Georgia DPS issued 14 additional citations to the driver and vehicle owner for various violations.

Police said that the dump truck was removed from the road.

“The condition was so severe that the CVE officer said they had never seen a commercial vehicle this bad,” DPD said.

DPD warned that unsafe commercial vehicles pose a serious threat to safety on Georgia’s roadways.

“Let that sink in — a 64,000-pound vehicle was traveling our roads in this condition. This was far beyond a minor equipment issue. It could have easily caused serious injury or loss of life,” police said.
