Gordie Howe International Bridge opens to car and truck traffic

The Gordie Howe International Bridge officially opened to commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle traffic on Monday.

On July 27, 2026, the Gordie Howe International Bridge opened to traffic, connecting Windsor, Ontario with Detroit, Michigan.

The bridge provides a direct connection between Ontario’s Highway 401 and Michigan’s I-75.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge features six bridge lanes, 16 toll lanes and 60 Canada and U.S. inspection lanes.
