Texas grocery chain H-E-B celebrated a company truck driver for achieving a major safety milestone in his decades-long trucking career.
On June 30, 2026, H-E-B announced that Jose Luis “JJ” Jaramillo reached four million safe miles, becoming the fourth truck driver in company history to reach that mark.
A celebration was recently held at H-E-B’s Weslaco Retail Support Center to honor Jaramillo’s driving achievement.

Jaramillo has driven trucks for 36 years, averaging about 115,000 miles per year to reach four million, H-E-B said.
Jaramillo initially started his employment with H-E-B as a warehouse worker, then transitioned to trucking when a position opened up. He achieved 1 million safe miles in December 2000 after almost 10 years with the company.
“JJ’s achievement is a testament to his professionalism, commitment to safety, and dedication to H-E-B’s values,” said Todd Wright, H-E-B Senior Vice President of Transportation and Logistics. “Reaching four million consecutive safe miles is a milestone few drivers in the ifndustry will ever accomplish, and we are proud to celebrate this historic achievement.”
“It’s a crazy feeling. It’s hard to explain but I just love to work and drive the big truck. I’ve impacted more people than I realized,” Jaramillo said. “And that feels awesome.”
