Interstate 94 was blocked on Wednesday after an early morning crash involving three semi trucks that caught fire.
The accident happened in Jackson County, Wisconsin at around 5 a.m. at the 100 mile marker on westbound Interstate 94.
According to Hixton Fire and Rescue, all three truck drivers were able to exit their trucks before first responders arrived. One driver was soon airlifted to a hospital with life threatening injuries. The three trucks reportedly caught fire.
The cause of the early morning crash has not been determined. All westbound lanes of I-94 were blocked for cleanup of the incident. The closure forced the rerouting of traffic onto Highway 95 in Hixton, and then to Highway 121 to Northfield.
The scene was cleared at about 9 a.m. The crash is still under investigation.
