The Idaho Transportation Department (IDT) shuttered a Port of Entry (POE) to allow for construction and facility upgrades.
On May 18, IDT announced the closure of the Lower Lewiston POE, located east of Lewiston on U.S. Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 95.
The Lower Lewiston POE is expected to remain closed through early 2027.
IDT pointed truckers towards the Lewiston Hill POE, which is seven miles north of Lewiston on US-95, for registration and permitting.
The POE closure will allow for upgrades including easier access for trucks.
“The new port design will feature improved access to commercial vehicle services, such as registration and permit requests, as well as public access to restroom facilities,” said Port of Entry program manager Frank DeCarvalho.
Inspection-related questions can be directed to the Lewiston Hill POE at (208) 799-4824.
