Illegal U-turn to blame for fiery two semi truck crash, Kentucky troopers say

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating an injury crash involving two semi trucks that took place in Hardin County on Monday night.

The crash occurred at 9:26 p.m. on February 16 along the Bluegrass Parkway at mile marker 7.

Troopers say that two semi trucks were eastbound on Bluegrass Parkway when one of the truck drivers, Manual Ostos Paxtian, 41, of Moss, Tennessee, “attempted to make an illegal U-turn using an emergency turnaround to attempt to travel westbound.”

The driver of the second semi truck, Charles Penn, 67, of Union Springs, Alabama, tried to avoid the truck making the U-turn but was unable.

The two trucks collided, and one caught fire.

Paxtian was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Penn was not injured.

The crash resulted in extended road closures and delays along Blue Grass Parkway.
