Illinois sheriff to conduct overweight truck enforcement details

The McLean County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) will be conducting enforcement details targeting overweight trucks.

On February 17, 2026, MCSO said that “overweight truck enforcement season” is underway in the Bloomington area and McLean County, Illinois, as construction and planting seasons kick off.

Officials say the promised enforcement operations are meant to ensure commercial vehicles are operating within Illinois weight limits.

“Commercial drivers are encouraged to verify axle and gross weights before hitting the road, plan routes accordingly, and obtain the proper overweight/oversize permits when required. Operating with the correct permit helps ensure legal compliance and safe transport of loads throughout our county,” MCSO said. “Our goal is compliance and safety – not citations. Let’s work together to keep McLean County roads safe and infrastructure intact.”
