The Indiana State Police (ISP) released enforcement statistics to highlight the accomplishments of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) so far in 2026.
On March 3, 2026, ISP shared commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement data from the period between January 1 and February 14, 2026.
- Total CMV Inspections Completed – 6,455
- Total Out of Service Drivers – 653
- Total Out of Service Vehicles – 752
- Total Number of Oversize Violations – 49
- Total Number of Overweight Violations – 278
Troopers also shared the work accomplished by ISP CVED during the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign, which took place January 12 — 16, 2026. Hundreds of commercial vehicle inspections were conducted as part the CVSA campaign, ISP said.

- 1,007 wallet cards and brochures provided to CMV drivers
- 718 inspections conducted
The ISP CVED is responsible for enforcing both state and federal regulations on all commercial motor vehicles Troopers conduct commercial vehicle inspections, New Entrant Safety Audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with equipment and hours-of-service regulations. ISP CVED is also responsible for “enforcing Indiana’s size and weight laws and ensuring that commercial carriers are properly registered and paying their fair share of fuel tax dollars.”
