Indiana troopers seize $9 million in cocaine from semi truck stopped for speeding on I-70

Indiana State Police (ISP) seized hundreds of pounds of cocaine from a semi truck after stopping the vehicle for speeding on I-70 this week.

On Monday, April 20. 2026, an ISP Criminal Interdiction Trooper stopped a semi truck for exceeding the posted speed limit while traveling on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 37, near Cloverdale, Indiana.

“During the interaction with the driver, 27-year-old Harmandeep Singh of Bakersfield, California, the Trooper observed multiple criminal indicators suggesting the driver was operating below industry standards,” ISP said in a news release.

ISP searched the truck and trailer after receiving consent.

Inside the rear of the trailer, ISP located several duffle bags and cardboard boxes containing 392 pounds of suspected cocaine.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $9 million.

Singh was booked into the Putnam County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

The Putnam County Prosecutor will determine final charges against Singh.

“Since the outset of his Administration, Governor Braun has emphasized the importance of combating crime and enhancing public safety across Indiana. Drug interdiction has been a major priority and remains a central focus in 2026. One key strategy in preventing illicit drugs from entering the Hoosier State is the continued expansion of the Indiana State Police Interdiction Unit. This unit, operating full‑time within the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section (DES), focuses on criminal interdiction efforts along Indiana’s major thoroughfares. Its mission is to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs and other contraband before they reach Indiana communities—helping safeguard lives and property throughout the state,” said ISP.
