Iowa troopers call out brake violations ahead of upcoming CVSA inspection blitz

Iowa troopers are encouraging truckers not to put off repairs after encountering a number of brake violations during recent inspections.

With the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Brake Safety Week campaign set for August 23 — 29, 2026, the time has come for truckers to focus on maintenance and repairs in order to prepare for a possible inspection.

Ahead of the upcoming brake blitz, ISP’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit shared a look at equipment violations, including damaged brake hoses, encountered during recent inspections.

“Damaged brake hoses can create a serious safety risk. When damage is identified, always ensure the repair is completed properly,” troopers said.

Take a look at some of the equipment issues uncovered by ISP commercial vehicle inspectors below.
