Iowa troopers clock semi truck at 84 MPH on Highway 61

Troopers recently caught a truck driver traveling “far beyond the speed limit” in eastern Iowa.

In a January 26, 2026, social media post, the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit said that a truck driver was stopped a few days ago along Highway 61 in eastern Iowa.

An image of the trooper’s radar device shows that the semi truck was clocked at 84 m.p.h.

“Even large trucks and trailers can travel far above the speed limit. Be aware on the road and slow down so everyone can get to where they are going safely!” ISP said.
