An unpermitted oversized load was halted by state police during a commercial vehicle weight enforcement detail on an Iowa interstate .
On July 22, 2026, troopers with the Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit conducted a weight enforcement detail on I-35.
While performing the enforcement detail, troopers encountered an oversized load weighing approximately 118,500 pounds traveling on I-35 without a permit.

“Please ensure your weight is legal and be sure to apply for, and receive, a valid permit before moving oversized and overweight loads,” the Iowa State Patrol advised.

According to Oversize.io, the fine for an overweight violation of 20,001 pounds and over in Iowa is $1,100.00 plus five cents per pound in excess of 20,000 pounds.
