ISP uncovers 45 violations across 16 CMVs during four-hour distracted driving blitz

The Indiana State Police uncovered 45 violations across 16 commercial motor vehicles in a four-hour distracted driving blitz on Friday. 

The blitz was conducted on Friday, April 10th on Interstate 70 from the 69 mile marker to the 156 mile marker at the Ohio/Indiana state line. 

According to a Facebook post made by the ISP, troopers participating in the four-hour blitz were focused on identifying and addressing unsafe driving behaviors, particularly cell phone use. Troopers made a total of 153 traffic stops during the enforcement and issued 172 traffic citations to motorists. 

The blitz also included CMV enforcement. During the four hours, troopers stopped 18 commercial vehicles and conducted 16 total inspections. 45 violations were discovered during those 16 inspections. Troopers also issued 9 CMV citations and 9 CMV warnings. 

Drivers are reminded to stay alert, avoid distractions, and focus solely on driving while traveling through Indiana.
