Load shift causes sheets of metal to pierce semi truck cab, Washington State Patrol says

A truck driver escaped without injury after a load shift sent sheets of metal into the back of the cab of a semi truck, according to Washington State Police (WSP).

On January 12, 2026, WSP troopers responded to I-90 westbound to I-405 in the Bellevue area for an accident involving a commercial semi truck hauling an oversized load of metal sheets.

WSP District 2 Public Information Officer Rick Johnson said that “the load ended up penetrating the cab due to a shift.”

No injuries were reported.

A wrecker was brought in to help clear the semi truck from the scene.

Troopers did not provide details on what led to the load shift.
