Police in Merced County, California, arrested a man for allegedly stealing hundreds of gallons of diesel from farmers.
On July 28, 2026, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested Andrew Roggero, 55, of El Nido following a two-month investigation into fuel thefts targeting farmers in Merced and Madera counties.
MCSO said that Roggero is believed to have stolen more than 500 gallons of tax-exempt “red” diesel from local agricultural operations.
MCSO executed multiple search warrants as part of the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges or arrests.
“Agricultural fuel thefts have a direct financial impact on local farmers and can disrupt critical farming operations. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the agricultural community and holding those responsible for these crimes accountable,” MCSO said.
