Man sentenced for stealing $1.5 million in cargo from tractor trailers in Philadelphia

A Philadelphia man was sentenced to years in prison for breaking into parked tractor trailers to steal items like televisions, crab legs, and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of dimes.

On June 11, 2026,  Salahudin Reddy, 39, was sentenced to 94 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Reddy pleaded guilty in March 2026 to conspiracy, four counts of theft from an interstate shipment, one count of theft of government money, one count of possession of stolen government money, and one count of possession of items from interstate shipment theft.

Officials say that between January 1 and July 31, 2023, Reddy and his co-conspirators stole interstate shipments from tractor trailers around Philadelphia.

The cargo thieves targeted unattended trucks, or trucks with sleeping drivers, and used bolt cutters and other tools to break into the trailers and steal the items inside, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Reddy admitted taking part in the thefts of hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of frozen crab legs on April 4, 2023, and again on April 6, 2023; the theft of over $360,000 worth of Samsung televisions on April 10, 2023; and the theft of over $230,000 worth of U.S. dimes on April 13, 2023.

Reddy and the co-conspirators took part several other cargo thefts, stealing approximately $1.5 million worth of goods from at least 10 victims, officials said.

This case was investigated by the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department.
