A military-style bobtail truck led police on an overnight chase through northeast Houston early on Monday morning.
The incident happened early on January 4th and January 5th across multiple roadways in Houston, Texas.
According to KHOU11, the pursuit began on Sunday night at around 10 p.m. when an off-duty officer witnessed the military-style bobtail truck crash into at least 10 vehicles and then fled the scene. The chase soon started when officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on the truck, but the driver refused to pull over.
The chase lasted approximately 75 minutes, and involved several spike strips at several locations. The driver did temporarily stop near Beltway 8 and Garrett, prompting an officer to fire shots, but the suspect was not hit and soon continued driving. The military-style truck driver attempted to ram several officers over the course of the chase.
The suspect’s tires were flattened on Interstate 59 near Little York, bringing the chase to a stop. Deputies attempted to make verbal contact with the suspect, but all attempts failed. Officers then deployed gas to aid them in taking the suspect into custody. The suspect was not harmed in the incident.
