More than 1,300 out-of-service orders issued by Indiana commercial vehicle troopers in April

Indiana State Police (ISP) sidelined hundreds of commercial trucks and truck drivers for safety violations last month.

ISP recently shared the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division’s (CVED) statistics for April 2026, showing that a total of 1,334 out-of-service orders were issued for various driver and vehicle violations statewide.

From April 1 — 30, ISP CVED completed the following enforcement activities:

ISP CVED’s enforcement of overweight violations saw a dramatic increase to 540 in April after only 174 were issued in the month of March.

ISP CVED is responsible for conducting Safety Inspections, New Entrant Safety Audits, and Compliance Reviews as well as “enforcing Indiana’s size and weight laws and ensuring that commercial carriers are properly registered and paying their fair share of fuel tax dollars.”

ISP said that the CVED’s truck enforcement was conducted in support of “Governor Braun’s public safety platform to ensure safe environments to travel, work and live for all Hoosiers and for those who traverse the “Crossroads of America”.”
