A Michigan man is facing charges for a triple fatality crash involving a semi truck that took place in Dearborn over the holiday weekend.
Motorist Hilton Dorian Yopp III, 26, of Westland, has been charged with three counts of Operating While Intoxicated – Causing Death, and three counts of Reckless Driving – Causing Death, according to a July 7 statement from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office (WCPO).
The charges were issued following a crash that occurred just before midnight on July 3, 2026, on eastbound I-94 near Wyoming Avenue in Dearborn, Michigan.
Michigan State Police said that the preliminary investigation showed that a “semi-truck was stopped in traffic due to flooding on the freeway when it was struck from behind by a passenger vehicle.”
When troopers arrived on scene, they found three passengers from the car driven by Yopp “in and around” the vehicle.
The following three people were pronounced dead at the scene: Myles Bland, 27, of Dearborn, Jailyn Riley, 24, and Alexandria Boynton, 24, both of Detroit.
Yopp and the semi truck driver were transported to a hospital for treatment.
“It is alleged that the defendant was intoxicated and driving recklessly at a high rate of speed when he collided with the back of a semi-truck, fatally injuring Mr. Bland, Ms. Riley, and Ms. Boynton,” said WCPO.
Yopp was arraigned on July 7 and received a $200,000/10% bond with a GPS tether. He is not permitted to drive or drink alcohol, officials said.
