Multiple people were trapped after a pileup crash involving nine vehicles and spilled tree debris in New York State on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened at 2:47 p.m. on Route 17A in Goshen, New York.
According to Patch News, officers arrived at the scene to find a truck driver trapped upside down inside the cab of an overturned semi truck, with tree debris from the trailer resting on top of another car. The driver of another vehicle was also trapped in their car. That car was also transporting a pregnant woman and a third person in the back seat.
A total of nine vehicles were involved in the crash, and six patients were transported to hospitals. Hydraulic rescue equipment was used to free both trapped drivers.
“The citizens who stopped to help at the scene of the devastating multi-vehicle tractor-trailer rollover didn’t hesitate—they stepped forward with courage, compassion, and selflessness,” the Goshen Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
The roadway was shut down for cleanup of the accident until around 7:15 p.m.
