Nearly 700 commercial vehicle safety inspections conducted during weeklong operation in New Mexico

Hundreds of commercial vehicles were inspected as part of a recent operation spearheaded by New Mexico State Police (NMSP).

From March 29 through April 3, 2026, NMSP conducted a “focused Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation” in the Clayton area.

As part of the operation, troopers took part in saturation patrols and established temporary inspection sites on rural state roads throughout the Clayton area.

  • Vehicles Out-of-Service: 59
  • Drivers Out-of-Service: 32
  • Cargo Checks: 175
  • Moving Violation Citations: 286
  • Equipment Violation Citations: 10
  • Total CMV Citations: 301
  • Transportation Enforcement Inspections: 285
  • Overweight Violations: 2
  • Portable Weights Conducted: 112

NMSP will continue to conduct commercial vehicle operations throughout 2026.

“Everyone involved put in long days and countless hours to promote roadway safety and reduce commercial vehicle crashes impacting the flow of commerce in northeastern New Mexico,” troopers said.
