A “nervous “ truck driver was arrested in Texas on Tuesday after police discovered bundles of cocaine hidden inside hollowed out truck batteries.
The truck driver was found and arrested on Interstate 35 in Selma, Texas on Tuesday, March 10th.
According to KENS5, police initially stopped the semi truck in the 16000 block of I-35. During the traffic stop, officers say the truck driver was increasingly “nervous,”and provided conflicting information, so officers called in a K9 officer to inspect the truck.
K9 Maverick soon alerted officers to the possible presence of narcotics, so the officers searched the trailer. Officers soon discovered four bundles wrapped in black trash bags. Each bag contained a truck battery that had been hollowed out, and inside each battery was a wrapped bundle of cocaine.
Police seized a total of 32 kilograms of cocaine from inside of the batteries. The truck driver was arrested, and later admitted that he knew the drugs were inside of the truck.
The truck driver was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 1, over 400 grams.
