New competition to pull real-time driving and compliance data to crown America’s top truckers

Fleet management technology company Samsara announced a new competition using real-time driving data to recognize America’s safest and most compliant truck drivers.

On May 7, 2026, Samsara debuted the Samsara Driver Cup, “a nationwide competition that uses real-world driving data to find and reward top professional drivers in the U.S.”

Samsara, which provides fleet telematic services including real-time GPS, routing, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance, will use data from company platforms to score and reward participating drivers across the following three categories:

The Samsara Driver Cup competition will run from May 18 – August 15 in three legs to allow more drivers a chance to win.

Samsara says that the top 1% of performers earn their title and can receive gift cards ranging in value from $5 up to $1,000.

For drivers to be eligible to compete, fleet managers must first confirm enrollment with Samsara. After a carrier is enrolled,  drivers are automatically scored based on their real driving data in the Samsara platform.

“Professional drivers today are part operator, part engineer, managing sophisticated machines with deep expertise and split-second judgment,” said Meagen Eisenberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsara. “The Samsara Driver Cup gives drivers the recognition they deserve and names those setting a standard of excellence.”

“Consistent, safe operations demand a substantial amount of skill. There are great drivers everywhere, and we take pride in how we do our jobs,” said Ken Blodgett, Driver at Bellavance Trucking. “Getting recognized as one of the top drivers in the country? This requires a 360-degree focus on the road throughout the workday. I’m excited to see who makes the cut.”
