The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is in the planning phase for a new rest area to provide truck parking and other services in the Pueblo area.
CDOT recently announced that it is designing a Pueblo new rest area that will be located along I-25 at Exit 108 (Purcell Boulevard) expected to serve “a growing number of motorists, commercial operators, recreationalists and local travelers.”
Officials say that the rest area will include 50 truck parking spaces and 95 car parking spaces, with access for both northbound and southbound drivers.
Other services will include restroom facilities, nine picnic shelters and one large picnic area, and a fenced pet relief area.
“The location provides access to municipal water and sewer facilities and has the capacity to add a transit hub, park and ride spaces and increased freight parking,” said CDOT.
CDOT noted that “after years of heavy use, the Pinion Rest Area facilities were closed in 2020 due to lack of potable water and failing wastewater facilities.”
