New York troopers on the lookout for 60,000 pounds of walnuts stolen from commercial trailers

New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating after a large shipment of walnuts went missing in the Bronx earlier this month.

Troopers say that a major cargo theft took place on March 2, 2026, in the area of Hunts Point in the Bronx.

A shipment containing 60,000 pounds of shelled walnuts was stolen from two 52-foot trailers.

The shipment was valued at around $50,000.

Troopers believe that the thieves will attempt to sell the stolen walnuts to third-party vendors, wholesalers, or distributors in the New York City area. Food distributors and vendors are asked to be on the alert for anyone attempting to sell large quantities of packaged walnuts, especially at very low cost.

“Cargo theft is a serious crime that can cause substantial financial harm to businesses and disrupt supply chains, affecting consumers,” NYSP said.

Anyone with information on the cargo theft incident is asked to call New York State Police Troop NYC at (212) 459-7800.
