Nine commercial vehicles were placed out of service or deemed unfit for the road after a two day enforcement blitz in Ontario earlier this month.
The enforcement occurred between February 3rd and 4th in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The blitz was a joint effort between The Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ministry of Transportation.
According to the Greater Sudbury Police, “officers conducted enforcement in the Kingsway/Barry Downe and Falconbridge areas, as well as in Azilda and Chelmsford,”
A total of 41 commercial vehicle stops were performed, with 21 Level 1 inspections. Of those inspections, six semi trucks were placed out of service and and three were deemed unfit for the road, resulting in the removal of their license plates.
64 charges were handed out during the blitz, including violations regarding inspection paperwork, overweight violations, and an unsecured load. Inoperative brakes, loose fasteners, and emissions violations were also discovered.
Several other violations were handed over to motorists during the blitz, including suspended licenses and one open liquor offense.
