U-Haul rolled out a new larger moving truck as part of a partnership with truck maker Peterbilt.
On May 20, U-Haul debuted the “Easy Mover” (EM) truck with 29-feet of cargo space as part of the company’s first-ever partnership with Peterbilt.
U-Haul says that the EM is the largest box truck available to date, with the cargo capacity to move a household of 4- to 6-bedrooms.
The EM “packs plenty of power, looking and feeling like a diesel engine” but runs on regular unleaded gas, U-Haul said.
A teaser image of the EM truck shared on May 19 was captioned “no CDL required.”
“It looks big,” said Kyle Royer, U-Haul Vice President of Rates and Distribution. “But then you sit in it and it doesn’t drive that way. The first turn you make, it’s relieving, it’s shocking. It almost doesn’t make sense. We made a bigger truck that is somehow easier to drive.”

“We wanted to design a truck that fits everybody,” explained Jeremy Donohue, U-Haul Truck Product Director. “If you’ve never driven a truck, our goal was to remove the adversity, so nothing is difficult. Everything is intuitive. Everything is accessible. Controls are easily laid out. The EM’s features are like every other vehicle our customers drive.”
