Operation June Bug: 24 detained for immigration violations during commercial vehicle detail in Texas

Multiple Texas law enforcement agencies partnered for a single-day enforcement detail targeting commercial vehicle and immigration violations.

Officials say that “Operation June Bug” took place in Wichita County, Texas, on Thursday, June 25.

Officers from the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) partnered with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Electra Police Department for the enforcement patrol.

  • 132 traffic stops
  • 93 commercial vehicle stops
  • 109 equipment violations issued by DPS
  • 15 truck/trailer combinations impounded
  • One cab impounded
  • 24 individuals detained for being unlawfully present in the United States

WCSO said that the detained individuals were from Mexico, India, Cuba, Algeria, Venezuela, Tajikistan, and Russia.
