Pilot Travel Centers announced an agreement with Tesla to construct heavy-duty electric truck charging stations for Tesla Semis at certain stores along major freight corridors.
On January 27, 2026, the companies announced a partnership to install Tesla Semi Chargers at select Pilot locations along I-5, I-10, and several other major corridors in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.
Construction is set to begin in the first half of 2026, with the first charging sites slated for opening in the summer of 2026.
The selected sites will host four to eight Tesla Semi charging stalls.
Tesla says that “the majority of a Semi truck’s 500-mile range can be recovered in a 30-minute charge session, matching a normal mandated break period for professional drivers.”
“Helping to shape the future of energy is a strategic pillar in meeting the needs of our guests and the North American transportation industry. Heavy-duty charging is yet another extension of our exploration into alternative fuel offerings, and we’re happy to partner with a leader in the space that provides turnkey solutions and deploys them quickly,” said Shannon Sturgil, senior vice president of alternative fuels at Pilot.
While the chargers will initially provide power for Tesla Semis, Pilot says that the charging network could expand to become compatible with electric trucks built by other manufacturers in the future.
