Police bust organized crime ring targeting semi trucks loaded at public grain bins

Police in central Texas have uncovered an organized crime ring targeting semi trucks loaded at public grain bins across the state. 

The investigation into the stolen semi trucks loaded with grain started back in March of this year, and has recently revealed the extent of the thefts and some of the individuals involved. 

According to Kens5, the investigation started with a reported grain theft on Barbarossa Road in Guadalupe County, Texas. Witness statements regarding that incident led police to an alleged network of stolen semi trucks loaded with grain from public grain bins in multiple counties in Texas. 

“This started with one complaint in Guadalupe County,” said Sheriff Joshua Ray “Our investigators stayed with it, built the case and brought in partners across Texas.”

So far, police have identified about 9.1 million pounds of stolen grain, with an estimated worth of $791,793. So far, three suspects have been arrested: 46-year-old Pablo Franco Jr., 52-year-old Ricky Regalado, and 57-year-old Larry Regalado. Each is facing charges of theft of property valued at more than $300,000, a first-degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, a first-degree felony; and stealing or receiving stolen grain, a second-degree felony.
