Dozens of charges were filed after Canadian police stopped the same “unsafe commercial motor vehicle” twice on the same Ontario highway in a single day.
At 5:00 a.m. on March 3, 2026, officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Temagami Division responded to Highway 11 for a report about debris on the roadway caused by a commercial vehicle.

A Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Level I inspection was performed on the commercial vehicle, including a suspended driver’s license, improper trailer plate, and nonfunctioning brakes.

Police placed the vehicle and driver out-of-service.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on the same day, an officer with OPP’s Temiskaming Division located the same commercial vehicle in operation on Highway 11 “with a handwritten plate and unresolved defects.”

Police say that charges include insecure load laid against the second driver and the Alberta-based company include unsafe vehicle operation, improper brakes, careless driving, and permit violations.
OPP said that a total of 26 charges were filed.

“The OPP reminds all commercial drivers and companies: maintain vehicles in safe condition and comply with regulations to keep Ontario highways safe,” OPP’s North East Region said in a news release detailing the incident.
