Police in southeast Texas want truckers to be carrying at truck stops, security officer says

A truck driver filmed getting advice from a security guard at a southeast Texas truck stop just to prove that it happened.

In the video, the truck driver is stopped at a truck stop in Baytown, Texas and films himself speaking with a security guard who was on alert for cargo thieves.

“This is what he said I need when I’m in Texas at a truck stop,” the driver, whose accent seemingly shows he’s from somewhere much farther north, says in the video.

“Here in Texas, at this location, PD and myself would recommend that you have your gun on you, so if anyone tries to steal off your truck or your trailer, you shoot them,” the security officer says.

“Because this is considered your home,” the security officer continues. “Here in Texas you are protecting your home and your belongings that go to your home. So anyone that’s trying to present themselves as a threat, shoot them down.”

“Right on,” the trucker says. “I wish I had a gun with me.”
