The Indiana State Police (ISP) seized hundreds of pounds of drugs and arrested two people following a commercial vehicle inspection along I-70 in Putnam County over the weekend.
At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, an ISP trooper pulled over a blue International semi truck on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 41 for a “routine DOT inspection” as the truck was en route from Joplin, Missouri, to Richmond, Indiana.
During the inspection, the trooper noticed indicators of criminal activity.
The truck was searched after a canine unit alerted to the vehicle.
According to ISP Public Information Officer Matt Ames, the search uncovered 309 pounds of cocaine in the sleeper berth.
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $7 million.
Both occupants of the semi truck were arrested and booked into Putnam County Jail. See below for charges.
Both truck occupants are also facing ICE deportation holds, according to ISP.
