Routine inspection ends in truck driver’s arrest for diesel pump tampering, Florida officials say

A commercial vehicle driver was arrested at a Florida agricultural checkpoint on several felony charges related to illegal fuel pump manipulation and theft.

The Florida Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) launched an investigation into a case of retail fuel theft in Milton, Florida.

The agency examined surveillance video which showed two individuals “operating semi trucks tampering with diesel fuel pumps.”

OALE said the suspects accessed the lower portion of the dispensers and then used a device to manipulate the pump solenoid, which allowed them to pump fuel without payment.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of the two suspects on felony charges of Organized Scheme to Defraud, Retail Fuel Theft by Physically Tampering with a Fuel Dispenser, and Petit Theft.

On May 27, 2026, during a regulatory inspection at agricultural inspection station 6A, driver Misael Heredia was identified by his Florida-issued CDL-A as one of the two suspects listed on the BOLO, OALE said.

Heredia was arrested on the active warrant and booked into Suwannee County Jail.
