The Platte County Missouri Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) removed a semi trailer from the road for a creative but unsafe attempt to fix the suspension.
On June 17, 2026, a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit deputy stopped a 2013 Peterbilt truck tractor pulling a 2023 intermodal chassis traveling through Platte County, Missouri.
During the inspection, the deputy discovered that “the trailer’s suspension was not connected and found the suspension system was being held together by a piece of rope as well as bungee cords.”
The deputy cited the truck driver and placed the trailer out-of-service until it could be repaired or towed from the scene.

“We would like to remind our professional drivers why a pre-trip inspection is important and safety defects risk lives on our roadways,” PCSO said.
