Semi trailer stolen from Georgia truck stop recovered in Texas, along with $300K in copper tubing

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) recovered a “significant stolen cargo shipment” that went missing from Georgia.

Officials announced on June 10, 2026, that a cargo shipment valued at $300,000 was recovered by TXDPS officers.

“After receiving information regarding a trailer reported stolen out of Georgia, DPS Troopers located the truck and trailer at a truck stop in Big Spring. During the investigation, the driver was identified as having outstanding felony warrants out of Georgia and was taken into custody,” the agency said.

Investigators found 41,083 pounds of stolen copper tubing valued at more than $300,000 inside the trailer.

TXDPS is working with the owner of the trailer and copper tubing to return the stolen property.

“This case highlights the professionalism, teamwork, and investigative efforts of DPS personnel in recovering stolen property, apprehending wanted individuals, and combating criminal activity across state lines,” TXDPS said.
