The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported catching a truck driver exceeding the speed limit by 27 m.p.h. on a busy interstate this week.
According the WSP Trooper Rick Johnson, a semi truck was stopped on the morning of February 2, 2026, along westbound I-90 at mile marker 34.
WSP said that the truck was traveling at speeds of 87 m.p.h. in a 60 m.p.h. zone.
“Driver stated he wasn’t paying attention,” Johnson said.

Other law enforcement agencies have reported similar semi truck speeding incidents in recent months.
Last month, the Iowa State Patrol caught a trucker traveling at similar speeds of 84 m.p.h. along Highway 61 in eastern Iowa.
In December 2025, the California Highway Patrol stopped a truck on southbound US-101 at Avila for speeding at 82 m.p.h. Following an alcohol test, the truck driver was arrested for DUI.
