Semi truck passenger found perched on folding chair during traffic stop in Arizona

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol called out an unsafe passenger transport issue found during a recent commercial vehicle stop on I-40.

AZDPS troopers recently pulled over a semi truck on I-40 near Kingman and found a passenger seated in a “hard plastic folding chair” inside the cab.

The makeshift in-cab seat is “not only … likely extremely uncomfortable, but it’s also dangerously unsafe,” AZDPS said.

Troopers noted that a truck passenger would not be protected by a seatbelt in the event of a crash or a sudden stop, which could “lead to serious injury.”

“Play it safe. Always make sure your vehicle is equipped with a properly installed, crash-tested seat before hitting the road,” officials advised.
