The California Highway Patrol (CHP) made an example out of a truck driver who bypassed a scale facility in the Grapevine area.
A Sergeant monitoring commercial vehicle traffic spotted a semi truck bypassing a designated inspection scale facility, according to a June 10 post from CHP’s Fort Tejon – Grapevine Division.
A traffic stop was conducted on the semi truck.
Troopers learned that the truck “did not have a transponder installed/any form of pre-pass & the truck’s registration was expired.”
As a result, the “enforcement action was taken,” and the truck was impounded.
CHP used the incident to remind truckers of the consequences of skipping the scales.
“Scale facilities play a critical role in ensuring commercial vehicles comply with safety regulations that help keep our roadways safe for everyone. Compliance isn’t optional, and bypassing a scale can lead to additional scrutiny and enforcement action,” CHP said.
